Grass-leaved goldenrod is a widespread plant that grows in the sun on moist soil in prairies, along lakeshores and streambanks, and in openings in forested regions. It does well on moist sand, sandy loam, loam, and silt loam. It has slender stems, narrow leaves and delicate, flat-topped clusters of yellow flower heads.
